Saturdays in the D will be held at three school sites— families can select the site that’s most convenient!

ENRICHMENT OFFERINGS

Students can select from a variety of fun enrichment programs that expose students to new interests, skills, and potential careers!  Classes may include robotics, studio production, arts and crafts, culinary arts, dance, martial arts, basketball, swimming, hip-hop writing, SAT preparation, financial literacy, Spanish, chess, conflict resolution and much more.

Students will participate in three courses in the first half of the program (first “semester”), followed by three different courses in the second half (second “semester”).  Each semester lasts 7 weeks.  Space in each class is limited. We will try our best to match students to their preferred courses.

Daily Schedule
8:30 AM - 8:55 AM: Arrival and Breakfast
9:00 AM - 10:15 AM: 1st Period Workshop
10:20 AM - 11:35 AM: 2nd Period Workshop
11:40 - 12:10 PM: Lunch
12:15 - 1:30 PM: 3rd Period Workshop
1:30 PM: Dismissal

PARENT & GUARDIAN WORKSHOPS

Saturdays in the D is excited to offer a series of workshops for parents and guardians of enrolled students! Workshops help participants build important skills in an engaging setting.  Workshops are free for families whose children are participating in the program!

2019 workshops include:

Computer Skills: Want to sharpen your computer skills?  You’ll learn important Microsoft Office operations like editing and saving files, using tools like spell check, printing files, and more.

 

Conflict Resolution: Join this interactive class and develop the skills you need to help people find peaceful solutions to disagreements, whether they’re personal, financial, political or emotional.

Financial Literacy: Whether you’re good on cash or pinching pennies, it’s important to make smart, careful decisions with your money. Join this class to learn about how to better manage your finances.  We’ll review budgeting, credit, and money making/retention skills.

 

GED Basics: Interested in earning your GED?  In this workshop, we’ll help you get started with test prep!  We’ll review test concepts and test-taking skills that you’ll need to be successful.

Workshops will be capped at 20 participants and sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration for the Parent Workshops will be available on the Student Registration forms.
